Very interesting, and I've read something similar to this somewhere else, recently. For myself, it's true that during those times in my life when I was suffering from a broken heart, or some other 'love troubles', I found myself practically spilling over creatively - not only with art, but writing poetry and having all sorts of realizations and revelations. But, other than that, if I'm angry or depressed, I can't even get myself motivated enough to want to create anything. In fact, this past year has been one very rough year and I've found myself in a bad mood almost straight through, and I've done less creating than ever. Recently, my spirits lifted and I've begun to feel more hopeful and happier, and I've suddenly gotten the urge to get crafting again. Maybe I'm the oddball, but - other than the heartbreak and / or lovesickness variety of bad mood, I wither creatively if I'm not doing well emotionally. I too will be interested in what others have to say about this!

I found this to be true for me too! Especially with my poetry. Thanks for posting this. The next time I am feeling down; I am going to head for my studio. See what positive things have already come from this article?? LOL!!

Very thought-provoking and certainly true. I create in both happy and sad times, but I do think I am more focused when I'm in a dark mood. The added benefit is that the act of creating art inevitably lifts my mood. Art is definitely a santuary and a solace for me.
